BILBAO BARCELONA THE NETHERLANDS GERMANY
I came across this pastelleria with a couple things I will need to try later. The Persiana Oplia (Blind Cake) looks very interesting to me. And the cone looking thing looks pretty good too!
Here's where I got the chocolate cake from, you can see it under the glass cover. TMNT cookies on the lower rack lol
And there was this local market with booths for vendors of all types. The produce was absolutely beautiful!
Part of the market has Pintxo bars
"A pincho, pintxo or pinchu is a small snack, typically eaten in bars, traditional in northern Spain and especially popular in the Basque country"
Here are the cinnamon rolls in the window. From left to right, you see the Oreo, the Dulce de Leche, and the Biscoff cookie rolls.
This is the little cafe where I got a café con leche and this dulce de leche cinnamon roll. Unrolled like a pro, in Angelo's opinion.
Russian Salad... oops
I was shown a roasted pig and was told this was the dish to order. I went with the recommendation and was not disappointed! Simple roasted vegetables and then the pork was really good! The bones were all that were left at the end.
Here's my sad (or happy depending upon how you look at it) Flan
I went to a local chain bakery and got a ham sandwich, some cinnamon donut holes, and a coffee
Let's start by saying Welcome to Holland!
So it's very typical to wake up and have a little something to eat. One thing the Dutch like to do is take old bread and toast it very crisp. This is something the bread makers will do and then resell it as toasted bread. Take this piece of bread, top it with peanut butter, and then put some chocolate sprinkles on it.
They have Speculous, or Speculaas, which I added to the bread. It was really good! Kinda of a lighter sweetness than I'm used to with the TJ's Cookie Butter.
I also tried a few different foods here in Holland which are similar to foods we have here in the States. First off, there were Bugles which are exactly the same.
And then I tried Paprika chips, which were a bit of a let down because they are what we call BBQ flavor chips
Now I did get a kind of chip I had never seen before and they were really good! These Subway Teriyaki chips were freakin' awesome!
This chocolate bar with caramel and praline (like a chocolate cream really). It was one of the best store bought chocolate bars I've ever had!
